Let's Making A Difference Through Education

"School with a Smile" project by Zam Zam Foundation has, for the last 4 years, provided assistance to more than 46,000 needy students across Sri Lanka.

This project supports continuous education of students from low-income families by helping parents to reduce their financial burden in educating their children. And this allows students to continue their education without dropping out of school due to poverty.

Each "Student's Pack" consists of a high quality school bag, exercise books, stationery items and a (Rs. 1,000) shoe voucher, totally worth over Rs. 3,000. This project is carried out with virtually 100% contribution from Muslims living in Sri Lanka and abroad, while the beneficiaries are from all religious and ethnic backgrounds in the country. This project also gives hopes to Sri Lankans in building national unity and reconciliation, through a feeling of caring for each other.

Regional Partnership Model

• We have introduced a new model of partnership, by offering matching contributions to regional organizations wanting to make a difference by supporting the children in their local community through our "School with a Smile" initiative.
• We match the funds they raise in their locality on a 1:1 basis and support them to reach more needy students in their locality.
• This model also motivates the local partners and helps sustain the initiative across the country in the long term, by letting local / regional organizations to slowly but steadily, take responsibilities towards social needs in their own localities.
• Many partners came on board with us in 2018 on this regional partnership model and we have seen a significant increase in local beneficiery numbers, due to this partnership.
